The Springfield Booster Club was founded by Donald I. Gurney Sr. in the early 1970’s.  Mr. Gurney passed away in October 2015 after leaving a long legacy of supporting not only the community of Springfield but the schools and its children.  As a tribute the Springfield Booster Club along with Springfield Parks & Rec and the Springfield School District has created a yearly event that recognizes the importance of athletics as well as embodies the spirit of Springfield and has the potential to grow and expand – just as Mr. Gurney envisioned for the town.
